A salute to Robert Agaverdian, an Emergency Medicine RN at Sherman Oaks Hospital.

For almost 2 years, Robert Agaverdian, has been dedicated to creating opportunities for children in Armenia to conquer cancer. As President of Bridge of Health, a non-profit organization that acts as a link connecting pediatric cancer patients in Armenia with the life-saving medical advances and resources available in the United States, Armenian children are given an opportunity to change their lives when faced with cancer.

Robert Agaverdian states, "Cancer takes a toll on every life it touches. While we cannot ensure recovery, we believe we can do our part to ease the medial, financial and emotional burden on families affected by childhood cancer."

Bridge of Health understands the difficulties of acquiring and maintaining quality treatment regardless of socioeconomic status. The organization combines the expertise of leading pediatric oncologists with the financial resources needed for a child's optimal care and recovery.

"Bridging the Gap" begins when social workers and physicians in Armenia identify a special circumstance when child with cancer does not have the financial means to receive the continuum of care they need. Once government funds and all other means are exhausted, help is requested from organizations, like Bridge of Health, who help connect and coordinate the pediatric cancer patients in Armenia with the additional medical advances and resources here in America.

On Sunday, September 7, 2014 at 6pm, Bridge of Health hosted the 2014 Annual Charity Gala event at the Great Caesar Banquet Hall in Tujuga, CA. The event featured VIP guests, physicians, art reception, dinner and a live performance and ceremony to help raise funds for this not-for-profit organization.

"Sherman Oaks Hospital is proud to have exceptional employees, like Robert, who go above and beyond for the care and well-being of others," states Dr. Sunny Bhatia, Chief Medical Officer at Sherman Oaks Hospital. "We wish him continued success as he continues to help Armenian children fight their battles with cancer."
