Advanced Treatment Procedures

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) is a sophisticated treatment modality that is an essential component in the healing process of wounds and fighting certain infections. Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy is a non-invasive and painless treatment that consists of laying inside a pressurized chamber and breathing in pure 100% oxygen. Due to the speedy delivery of highly oxygenated blood to the wound, wound healing is accelerated. The high concentration of oxygen in the body’s tissue promotes new tissue development, increases white blood cell activity, stimulates the growth of new blood vessels, and improves circulation.

Some conditions Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy may be suggested for include:

  • Diabetic wounds
  • Slow-to-heal wounds
  • Radiation injuries
  • Soft tissue radionecrosis and osteoradionecrosis
  • Chronic osteomyelitis
  • Certain bone and skin infections
  • Compromised skin grafts and flaps
  • Gangrene
  • Carbon monoxide poisoning
  • Decompression sickness
  • Crushing injury

Typically, treatments are daily and range between 60-90 minutes per session. The number of sessions vary based on diagnosis.
